Mr. Imran Ahmed |
Mr. Imran Ahmed joined the Developments in Literacy in September 2001 and is currently serving as the Chairperson. From 1961 to 1996, Mr. Ahmed worked for Pakistan Tobacco Company Limited, a subsidiary of British Tobacco Company Ltd. (UK). In his last appointment as Secretary of the Company, he served as a member of the top management team with primary responsibility to the Board of Directors for managing the Secretarial & Legal affairs of the Company. As secretary, he was responsible for developing the first formal corporate policy on Social Responsibility and in organizing its implementation.
After retiring from Pakistan Tobacco Company Ltd.,
Mr. Ahmed has worked as a consultant for The Aga Khan Rural Support Program (AKRSP) and the Sungi Development Foundation (SUNGI). He has also been an active volunteer with many nonprofit organizations in Pakistan including the Pakistan National Council for United World Colleges, ABSA School for Deaf Children, Karachi and the Pakistan Foundation Fighting Blindness (PFFB), Islamabad. Mr. Ahmed was admitted Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (FCIS), U.K. in May 1982. |
