Goal
Promote attitudes and behaviors for our students to succeed in a global marketplace; spark the internal motivation to learn.
What we do
DIL schools provide students with opportunities to connect to others and to the outside world, inspiring in them a desire to reach higher and change their lives for the better.
Activities
-
DIL awards Scholarships to its graduates who want to continue their education
-
DIL’s Vocational Training Center (VTEC) offers marketable skills
Students learn skills such as computer training, sewing, knitting, embroidery and candle-making. Program participants are earning a living, increasing their families’ income and empowering themselves.
Impact
- In 2011, DIL provided 381 scholarships to graduates pursuing higher levels of education.
- In 2011, 146 students earned vocational certificates from VTEC.
- DIL is working to capture the percentage of students who choose to pursue higher levels of education after completing their studies at DIL schools. A sample in one of DIL’s most remote areas suggests that about 80% of students are continuing their education beyond DIL schools and that the majority of these graduates are girls.
