On July 13th, DIL caught some air time on popular talk show, Jago Pakistan Jago, aired on HUM TV in Pakistan. The segment that focused on cross-cultural barriers and philanthropy. DIL San Francisco Chapter Board Member, Malika Junaid, spoke passionately of the impact American-supported DIL schools are having in rural and peri-urban communities across Pakistan. Also interviewed in the segment were two young American volunteers who journeyed from the Bay Area to train DIL teachers in Pakistan as well as singer-humanitarian Todd Shea whose organization has run health camps for DIL students.

The DIL students and parent interviewed spoke of the dreams they have of a better future. Says the parent volunteer who was interviewed: “I have six children and five attend a DIL School. Given my limited family income, I could have never dreamt of educating my children. If it wasn’t for DIL, I don’t think they would have ever seen the inside of a school.”
