The DIL/Your DIL Annual Retreat for 2012 took place in Las Vegas, NV this year from June 15-17th. With 35 attendees from both groups and representatives from chapters across the nation, the event was an important gathering allowing our chapter board members to get the most updated news about DIL and to collaborate with each other.

The retreat took place at THEhotel at the Mandalay Bay Resort. DIL would like to thank THEhotel and its staff members for making the experience easy and hospitable.

Friday evening after many of the attendees arrived, DIL hosted a small meet-and-greet at THElounge inside THEhotel. The full morning and afternoon of Saturday were filled with useful presentations both from staff members on-site and virtually. Through Skype sessions with overseas staff and live presentations from the US staff, retreat attendees were given information to take back with them to share with their chapters.

Not only did we spend time together in meeting-room style and participate in group activities to encourage the sharing of ideas and experiences, there were also group meals at THEhotel through which many of the attendees spoke with each other.

Overall, the retreat was a great success as everyone walked away having learned something new. It was a wonderful opportunity to put faces to names and see the dedication that everyone else had about DIL. Some attendees praised the retreat as being one of the best they’ve been to.
