Watch our video on Farheen, a DIL student who dreams of education for all children in the world.

“The greatest risk for violent extremists in Pakistan isn’t American drones. It’s educated girls.”

- Nicholas Kristof endorsing DIL in NY Times’ “Her ‘Crime’ Was Loving Schools”, 10/10/12

Today marks the first International Day of the Girl, as declared by the United Nations. As we celebrate the potential within each child, we must pause to honor one girl’s courage. The attack on Malala Yousufzai is shocking and shameful. Her bravery in standing up for her basic right to an education is an inspiration and a call to action.

DIL schools provide quality education to thousands of girls like Malala. We see ourĀ  communities as partners and promote a collectivist approach that helps build trust instead of fear. There are 34 DIL schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province, providing education to over 1,500 students.

It costs $100 a year to Educate a Child. Honor Malala today by supporting quality education for girls. Share this with your colleagues, friends, and family.
