For nearly 30 years, Developments in Literacy (DIL) has worked in some of Pakistan’s most underserved rural and peri-urban areas, earning trust through long-term presence, consistent delivery, and high-impact education programs. Our reputation for delivering effective, locally grounded educational solutions makes us a trusted partner for both communities and public institutions.
DIL operates through two complementary school models
Community Schools
Established and directly managed by DIL in close partnership with local communities.
Government Schools
Public schools where DIL implements its core programs to improve teaching, learning, and school environments in collaboration with federal or provincial education departments.
Rather than building new infrastructure, DIL partners with the Government of Pakistan to upgrade and transform existing schools. Today, most schools in our network are government schools. This enables scale, cost-efficiency, and improved learning across public schools.
These schools, whether community-based or government-run, are designed to be safe, inclusive learning environments, particularly for girls. By leveraging community relationships built over decades, DIL delivers sustainable, high-quality education at scale.
