About

DIL San Francisco was established in 2001 by Sara Abbasi. That spring, Sara recruited members who would form the first board: Lubna Sheikh, Saira Siddiqui, Ghazala Khan, Zar Aslam, and Asma Sheikh. The chapter’s inaugural gala took place in October 2001, attended by over 150 guests and raising nearly $80,000. Over the past two decades, and thanks to the generous support of the Bay Area community, the funds raised by DIL San Francisco have helped educate hundreds of thousands of students across Pakistan.
